8 Vastu Tips for a Peaceful Pooja Room

According to Vastu Shastra, the right placement of your mandir invites harmony and positive energy into the whole home.

1. Direction: the north-east (Ishaan) corner is ideal. Face east or north while praying.
2. Not under stairs or adjacent to a bathroom wall.
3. Idols: keep them a few inches away from the wall and not facing each other.
4. Colours: white, cream, light yellow or light blue walls.
5. Lighting: light a diya every morning and evening. A brass akhand diya is ideal.
6. Storage: keep only pooja items here — no clutter.
7. Floor: marble or wood; keep it clean daily.
8. Bell and conch: ring the bell and blow the shankh during aarti to purify the space.
